‘Big Brother’ Makes History With All Black Finalists Thanks To ‘The Cookout’ Alliance

The 23rd season will have the first Black winner.

Look out for the cookout! The long-running CBS reality show Big Brother has made history, thanks to the final six contestants better known collectively as “The Cookout,” theGrio reports.

Not only are all of the finalists Black for the first time in the reality show’s history, all six of the Black contestants on the show formed an alliance to ensure one of them would become the first Black winner of Big Brother,

although Tamar Braxton won Celebrity Big Brother.

The group is referred to on social media as “The Cookout.” Azah Awasum, Hannah Chaddha, Derek Frazier, Tiffany Mitchell, Kyland Young and Xavier Prather are the final six contestants for “Big Brother” season 23. The group came together early on and eliminated the other contestants, and now one of the finalists with be the first Black “Big Brother” winner.

Black Twitter fans were happy about the historical moment and celebrated the show making history.

One Twitter user noted that on the past 11 seasons, relatively little to no Black people on the show made it to the final six contestants.

“The Cookout somehow feels even more historic when you look at this. A look at the final sixes for the past 11 seasons #BigBrother #BB23 #CBSBigBrother.”

Of course, the Wonder Bread set tried to cry reverse racism, neglecting that the shows had all-white alliances for more than 20 years.

Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves told Entertainment Weekly that she disagrees with the Trumpeters complaining about something that doesn’t exist.

“I have heard some call the formation of the Cookout a form of racism,”she said. “In my humble opinion, it is not,” she said, adding that what they’ve done is impressive.

We agree with Moonves and our congratulations go out to “The Cookout.”
