Erykah Badu’s Copycat Claims Against Beyoncé Over A Hat Has Fans On Both Sides Going Livid

Icon Erykah Badu, 52, seemingly shaded Beyoncé in her Instagram Story and the “Halo” singer’s comments after noticing Queen B rocking a chrome mirror, wide-brimmed hat on her tour, semi-similar to Badu’s.

On Sunday, July 30, Beyoncé, 41, posted a carousel of photos from her “Renaissance” tour of her and Blue Ivy donning matching “IV” blue and orange jerseys. The “I Care” singer wore thigh-high camouflage boots and a chrome mirror, wide-brimmed hat.

Badu wrote in the comments, “I’m flattered.”

The 52-year-old then took to her Instagram to post a slideshow clip of her on her “#UnfollowMe” tour wearing a semi-similar hat, only the top part was taller. Badu posted the clip to her story and captioned it, “I guess I’m everybody stylist,” insinuating Beyoncé copied her style.

Social media users didn’t take kindly to Badu shading Beyoncé. Most of them highlighted how the “Lemonade” hitmaker has shouted her out before, referring to Beyoncé and Madonna’s “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix).”

“Betty Davis, Solange Knowles, Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Rowl’.”

Others supported Badu.

“Girl, bye. She’s been shouting you out for months and on the Queen’s Mix, but you wanna be shady,” a person commented under Badu’s post.

“They can’t do it like you. They don’t have the magic under the cap!”

“It’s the fact that Beyoncé has been wearing that tall hat since 2013 for FORMATION. It’s a quick Google search. The only reason it is silver is for this tour’s aesthetic. She literally wears it for a short ass time at that. She is on stage for 3 damn hours with 20 damn outfit changes be fr. Smh I just seen Erykah in Minneapolis, too, and nothing about their tours or outfits are the same. Erykah wears them fur boots the entire time. This is weird.”

“I think Bey stole that look.”

“Consider it a compliment. Styles and trends revolve all the time. Don’t be petty…. Be flattered.”

“The original always does it best!”

“Stop the divisiveness. You can contact Beyoncé directly instead of spreading nonsense. We saw B wear this style during Formation in 2016.”

“I like you, girl, but don’t try it.”

All in all, they’re both queens and look good in the hats.
