Beyoncé opened the 2022 Oscars last night with a  performance of her Oscar-nominated King Richard song “Be Alive.”

The stunning performance took place at the Compton tennis courts, where Venus and Serena Williams ran drills as children.

The performance was introduced by Venus and Serena and featured an appearance from Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy.

The performance started with a shot of young women making their way to the court — two with racquets and one on horseback, a nod to the Compton Cowboys and the legacy of Black cowboy culture.

Bey and her backup singers and musicians were all in head-to-toe vibrant tennis ball green; even the violins and music stands were color-coordinated.

Many of the performers on the tennis court performance sported braids with beads, styles which often received criticism when the Williams sisters wore them in their early tennis careers.

“Be Alive” was nominated for Best Original Song and played during the end credits of King Richard, the story of Richard Williams and his journey of raising two of the world’s greatest athletes.

The song is Beyoncé’s first Oscar nomination, although Billie Eilish ultimately won the Oscar for her song “No Time to Die.”

Bey shared a few of her looks from the Oscar performance on Instagram.

She donned a custom David Koma look, wearing a neon tennis ball-colored sequined sheer dress with feather trim.

Bey even shared photos of herself in her full Oscar attire. She wore a gorgeous custom Valentino daffodil yellow gown with a sweetheart neckline. The dress included a flowing off-the-shoulder cape and matching opera gloves. She accessorized the look with chandelier diamond earrings, bright yellow platform heels, and a tennis ball-shaped purse.
