Beyonce Becomes First Black Woman To Wear 128-Carat Tiffany Diamond

Grammy-award-winning artist Beyonce Knowles Carter has become the first Black woman to wear jewelry house Tiffany & Co.’s famous 128-carat diamond.

As previously reported, Beyonce shared the news of her partnership with Tiffany & Co. on her Instagram account with three different posts of her and Jay-Z.

Beyoncé can be seen wearing a big, sparkling, yellow diamond necklace in the photos, which happened to be the famous 128-carat Tiffany Diamond.

According to PR NewsWire, Audrey Hepburn reportedly wore the necklace in publicity photos for Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Beyoncé made history with the collaboration as the fourth woman and the first Black woman to wear the diamond in over a century.

Another historical highlight for the Carters is that the couple was able to pose for the shoot in front of an original Jean-Michel Basquiat painting, “Equals Pi,” a 1982 piece from a private collection that has never been seen before in public.

This will also be a personal first for the couple, seeing as this is the first ad they’ve appeared in together, in what Tiffany describes to be “an exploration of connection and vulnerability.”

“Ushering in a new brand identity, this campaign embodies the beauty of love through time and all its diverse facets, forging a new vision of love today,” Tiffany’s said.

The jewelry company is also set to release a film by director Emmanuel Adjei who took part in Beyoncé’s 2020 visual album Black Is King. The film will include a version of “Moon River” “a song written for Hepburn to perform in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and will be revamped with vocals by Beyoncé.

Tiffany also plans to follow in Beyonce’s lead and pledges to donate $2 million toward scholarships and internship programs for HBCUs.

In 2018 Queen Bey awarded scholarships to students at four HBCUs.
