On March 27, Virginia Beach Police Department identified Deshayla Harris, a cast member of the Oxygen series Bad Girls Club as a bystander and one of the two victims that were killed in a shooting incident that took place the day before.

Virginia Beach Police reported that shootings ensued when “a group of individuals was involved in some type of conflict that resulted in a physical fight.”

“At some point during the physical altercation, several individuals produced firearms and began shooting at each other, resulting in numerous people being wounded.”

In a briefing held Saturday night regarding the shootings at the Oceanfront with Wavy, Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate says, “We do believe that she truly is, at this point in time, an innocent victim that was probably struck by stray gunfire in some regards.”

A tweet shared by Bad Girls Club offered its condolences.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Deshayla’s family and loved ones.”

At least eight other people were injured and the second victim who died was 25-year-old Donovon W. Lynch. Lynch was reported to have been in an officer-involved shooting and armed at the time.

Harris was found dead at the scene, while Lynch was identified from a separate location, according to BET.

Neudigate stated that the police officer involved wearing a body camera at the time however, the police were not able to recover any footage from the incident.

Three suspects were arrested on multiple charges, one of them being the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Neudigate also states that the incidents occurring that night were not believed to be connected.
