Azealia Banks Says DaBaby Should Have Been Cancelled For Violence Against A Woman

Azealia Banks, rapper and provocateur, is back in urban news. However, this time it’s for a good reason. She claimed that DaBaby should have been canceled for violence against a female fan, The Source reported

.

DaBaby has been summarily canceled by the internet due to a rant that included misogyny, homophobia and plain ignorance. Apparently, he forgot that in 2021, everyone has a recording device in their hands and what he said was probably on the internet before he finished saying it.

In the wake of his loose jowls, he has lost too many gigs to count.

Azealia Banks thinks his cancellation has come much later than it should have.

“Y’all should have BEEN canceled DaBaby [sic] when he was caught on camera punching a female fan in the face,” Banks wrote in an Instagram story.

So what is Azealia Banks talking about?

In early 2020, DaBaby was in Tampa, Florida, when a woman who was recording him hit him with her cell phone. DaBaby slapped her but claimed that he could not tell it was a woman at the time.

The rapper ended up apologizing but still maintained that he could not tell it was a “female” due to the flashlight function on the phone.

“I’m very sorry that there was a female on the other end of that flashlight on their phone… But you know, keep in mind, I couldn’t see you because you got the flash this close to me.”

He then lectured fans about using the zoom feature to take photos of him in the future.

Unfortunately for him, while the public may have forgotten, Banks did not.

Violence is bad enough. Violence against women is definitely cancel-worthy.

Banks, like many people, concluded that his apologies are performative, but he should remain canceled.

“Apology or not, keep him canceled,” she said.

She said what she said.
