NBA player Anthony Davis married his longtime girlfriend Marlen P. at a star-studded wedding that included a serenade by the groom.
The wedding had a very rich guest list that included LeBron James, Adele and Russell Westbrook. Davis’ other teammates and basketball colleagues attended as well.
Usually, vocal performances by grooms cringe-worthy. First of all, rarely are the vocals ready for public consumption and secondly, it comes off as a form of weird public foreplay. Exhibit A is how Davis sang Dru Hill’s “Never Make A Promise” to Marlen P. during their dance.
Being three feet taller than your dance partner, trying to hold them and a microphone simultaneously presents logistical problems and the voice…well, you be the judge.

Webster defines “serenade” as “a complimentary vocal or instrumental performance” but likens it to a symphony.
Either way, the bride seemed to love it because love is blind and apparently, casts away all pride.
Later in the wedding, the real singers showed up in the form of every geriatric millennial and Gen-X’ers dreamboats, New Edition. Davis joined them on stage because why not?!
What Davis lacks in vocal skills, he also lacks in dance capability. However, the drinks were flowing, and he was happy.

Davis and Marlen P have been together for years. They share a four-year-old daughter.
In Nov. 2019, Heavy published a story suggesting that Davis was close to proposing to his now-wife based on the two house-hunting after renting a mansion for a while. However, Davis said he was focused on earning accolades in his career at the time.
Davis attempted to sing to his new wife at other points in the ceremony. Hopefully, that was a one-time event and not a hint at a career change.
We wish the couple the best of luck.
