Angel Reese was already a top-tier player in two of the prestigious and competitive athletic conferences in basketball, but now she is made it on the list as one of the most valuable players of all time.
Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) valuations are similar to determining a celebrity’s net worth, with the exception that student-athletes are not salaried athletes and most rely on sponsorship and endorsement deals.

After Reese’s team, the LSU Tigers, won the national championship over the Iowa Hawkeyes, her NIL is now $1.3 million, according to On3’s NIL ratings.
Her $1.3 million valuation makes Reese one of the most profitable student-athletes in sports. In 2023, the athletes on the top ten list are mostly male college students who play for a football team, with the only exceptions being high schooler Hansel Emmanuel, No. 10, $1.4 million; San Ysidro CG Mikey Williams, No. 4, $3.3 million; and LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne, No. 3, at $3.4 million, Finurah reported.
The No. 1 top student athlete is by far Bronny James, son of NBA great Lebron James and a student at prestigious Sierra Canyon High School. He has a net worth of $10 million and a NIL rating of $7.2 million.
The NIL Rankings, reported annually, determine the projected annual value of high school and college athletes by measuring student-athletes on their Brand Value Index and Roster Value Index.
An athlete’s Brand Value, or licensing and national sponsorships, and Roster Value, the calculation of an athlete’s respective value to his or her team, are evaluated by On3 NIL Valuation and calculated using a dynamic data point system that focuses on three primary categories: Performance, Influence and Exposure.
Reese attended Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, Md. where she earned McDonald’s All-American honors in 2020 and was ranked as the number two player in her class by ESPN.
Reese played two seasons of college basketball at the University of Maryland, where she was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and a First Team All-American in 2022. She led the Terrapins to the Sweet 16 in 2022 as their leading scorer averaging nearly 18 points per game and leading rebounder averaging nearly 11 rebounds per game.
Reese transferred to LSU in 2022 and helped the Tigers win the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
Reese is a 6-foot-3 forward known for her athleticism, rebounding and post play. She is considered one of the top players in women’s college basketball.
