Andrea Bordeaux Of ‘Run The World’ Fame Says She Was Fired From The Show Due To COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

Actress Andrea Bordeaux from the hit Starz comedy Run The World revealed that she was fired from the show because of a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

On Friday, Feb. 4, she took to Instagram to explain her departure from the series following circulating reports that she voluntarily bowed out from her role. Beneath a screenshot of a Deadline article, she wrote that she was let go after reportedly disagreeing with Lionsgate Television about COVID-19 protocols. According to the outlet, Lionsgate has required cast members working in Zone A on their sets to be vaccinated.

“Despite what the article says, I did not opt to leave the series, and Lionsgate made no efforts to find a workable solution. I was fired,” Bordeaux said.

“My heart is with all of the people around the world who feel that they are losing so much due to their choice to stand in their convictions and to honor their deepest core beliefs,” she wrote. “What I know for certain is that when you are leading with your heart and honoring the path that Spirit has laid out for you, nothing can be taken away that will not be returned 1000 fold. I surrender to that with profound Peace and Joy, and I encourage you to do the same.”

The 34-year-old added that she sympathized with those who have also lost opportunities due to their stance on the vaccine.

The Texas-born actress portrayed the uber-stylish Ella McFair on Run The World alongside Bresha Webb, Amber Stevens, and Corbin Reid. The show debuted on May 16, 2021, and was written, created, and executive produced by Leigh Davenport. It followed four thirty-something Black women friends as they navigated their personal and professional lives in Harlem.

“I really feel like the sisterhood is so integral to the show and the premise because all of these women have such different perspectives, different lives, [and] different situations that they’re going through,” Bordeaux said in an interview with PIX11 on Jul. 8, 2021. “Being able to lean on a core group of incredible family-like friends to me is something that is such a gift, and that’s really what we’re showcasing on Run The World

.”

Starz has yet to announce the official release date of season two.
