Amber Riley is not having it when it comes to men who discriminate against fat women. In an Instagram reel posted last Wednesday, the Glee actress implied that men she has known for years are singing to a different tune and giving her the time of day in her direct messages because of her weight loss.
The video shows Riley pretending to watch a man fall, only to “continue her conversation.” The man falling supposedly represents the men falling into her direct messages.

Riley wrote in the caption box, “Keep that same fatphobic energy player. Ain’t [poop emoji] changed over here but the scale, BIG DOT.”
“Unfortunately, smaller bodies are more privileged,” she wrote in the comments. “It’s been weird and uncomfortable experiencing that, and if I’m being honest, kind of nice not having to defend my existence or make space for myself all the time. I still often think I don’t belong in certain rooms, and I’m still not skinny. I feel many ways about it that I’m not really ready to discuss, but I do think it’s worth mentioning. All I know is all bodies are beautiful, love yourself NOW, and my girl @ceceolisa always said, ‘don’t wait on your weight.’ Y’all inspire me, and so we’re clear, I was fine af– then and I’m fine af– now, I can still put yo if I wanted to, fat girls ain’t out here beggin’ for love, and attention like y’all would like to believe, and also, it’s wetter ask ya, daddy. K, I’m done bein’ reckless this morning. Bye.”
Riley lost 50 pounds, going from 237 pounds to 187 pounds. In 2012, the actress spoke with People about how she got the motivation to start her weight loss journey after receiving stomach pains from her eating habits, which consisted of a lot of fast foods.
After seven months of sticking to her new diet, the actress and singer dropped two dress sizes.
“I’m a lot more comfortable in dresses, especially gowns,” she said, adding they had to make changes to her entire wardrobe.
