Amber Rose spoke out about the infamous Taylor Swift and Kanye “Ye” West VMA moment that broke the internet 14 years ago.

In a recent interview with ET published on Dec. 10, ET’s Deidre Behar asked Rose about the iconic moment when Ye swayed Swift’s spotlight toward Beyoncé’s direction. At the time, Rose and Ye were dating (from 2008 to 2010).

Asked what she remembered that night at the 2009 MTV VMA Awards, the 40-year-old hesitantly answered.

“I don’t want to say the wrong thing,” the model said. “Because I love Taylor Swift. I mean, she’s amazing. Was he wrong for going on stage? Absolutely. Was he telling the truth? He was telling the truth. Beyoncé deserved that award, but you can’t take it from somebody else. It wasn’t Taylor Swift’s fault. She was a baby. “

Rose added that the “Best Female Video” award belonged to Swift.

“She essentially did deserve it because I think it was the fans that voted for her video,” Rose stated.

She recalled staff members escorting Ye out of the auditorium and talking with him.

“I was just sitting there like ‘Oh, my God! I can’t believe it,'” she shared, adding she was there, but it didn’t happen to her, so she couldn’t give further details on what happened. But Ye was remorseful, Rose claimed.

“He instantly felt bad because it wasn’t about Taylor at all. I think the media made It seemed like he was picking on her and stuff but he wasn’t. He was just standing up for Beyoncé because it was ‘Single Ladies.’ Everyone around the world was doing that dance from the video. It was just an unfortunate situation.”

Rose stated everyone in the situation felt horrible, including Swift and Beyoncé.

In 2009, actor Taylor Lautner and singer Shakira were the presenters for the “Best Female Video.” They announced Swift as the winner because of the music video to her 2008 megahit “You Belong With Me.” While thanking her fans for her first-ever VMA as a rising country-pop star, Ye swooped in, taking the mic.

“Yo, Taylor. I’m really happy for you. Imma let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all times,” the “Donda” creator announced.

The camera cut to the “Halo” singer and caught her shocked reaction.

Earning boos and cheers from the crowd, Ye shrugged before handing the 34-year-old the mic and walking away.

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres 13 years ago, Ye explained he couldn’t sit back and watch thing relevant to Black culture get ignored.
