Alyssa Scott took to Instagram to pay tribute to her late son Zen, who she shared with Nick Cannon, a year after his death.
On her Instagram story on Friday, the grieving mother expressed how much she misses her son.
“My body feels it. I’ve been on the verge of tears the last few days. Trying to keep [forward] momentum,” Scott wrote next to a photo of Zen in a blanket. “I miss my boy.”
A month before posting the tribute, she took the time to wish her angel a happy birthday. For his birthday in June, she wrote:
“Happy heavenly birthday Zen. At the root of all the emotions I have today, there is insurmountable love. I always try my best to remain positive, but right now, I can’t help but cry out, ‘it’s not supposed to be like this.’ In my mind, I can see him smashing his cake and crawling around, tugging at my legs. But the reality is I will be the one to blow out his first candle. I will be wishing he was still here with us. GO REST HIGH.”

She also posted on June 24 about a new foundation dedicated to their fallen son.

Three days after he passed, she wrote about the pain of not holding him or seeing him in places he should’ve been.
“Oh my sweet Zen,” she wrote. “The soreness I felt in my arm from holding you is slowly fading away. It’s a painful reminder that you are no longer here. I caught myself looking in the backseat as I was driving, only to see the mirror no longer reflecting your perfect face back at me. When I close a door too loudly, I hold my breath and wince, knowing a soft cry will shortly follow. It doesn’t come. The silence is deafening. These last 5 months, we have been in this race together.”
