Alicia Keys Receives Hella Shade From Twitter For Producing Netflix Movie About Man-Stealing Singer

Twitter dunked on Alicia Keys after Netflix shared the trailer for her film Resort to Love, which features a character who stole someone else’s man.

Keys produced the movie under her production company AK Worldwide, according to What’s On Netflix. Christina Milian stars as Erica, a trouble singer who gets booked to sing at her ex-fiancé’s destination wedding. When she sees her ex, portrayed by comedian Jay Pharoah, she realizes

she’s in love with him and wins him back.

The film’s plot is interesting, considering how her marriage to Swizz Beatz began. He divorced ex-wife Mashonda in 2010 and married Alicia Keys the same year.

The relationship was controversial because Mashonda claimed she was still with Swizz when he started dealing with the “No One” singer.

Netflix tweeted the trailer on Wednesday and Keys retweeted it on her personal Twitter page.

Viewers wasted no time reminding Keys of her past drama and her name eventually became a trending topic.

“Alicia Keys producing a movie about possibly wrecking a marriage is just so fitting,” tweeted one person.

“Alicia keys might as well played the roll… if we really talking messy marriages,” suggested another viewer.

For what it’s worth, Mashonda has an amicable relationship with Swizz Beatz and Keys. The trio was recently spotted at a graduation ceremony for Swizz and Mashonda’s oldest son, Kaseem Jr, per Black Celeb Kids.

Mashonda opened up about her journey to peaceful co-parenting in her book, Blend.

“What many parents don’t realize is that co-parenting starts with self-care,” she wrote. “It’s normal to feel hurt and disappointed after a breakup, but don’t allow your- self to be swallowed up by the pain. Find a way to release the feelings of anger and move on. You will never be able to properly love anyone—your child included—if you don’t love yourself first.”

Good for them.

Netflix will start streaming Resort to Love on July 29.
