Adidas released a statement on November 25, stating that Kanye West was being actively investigated for inappropriate workplace conduct because of the reports from dozens of ex-employees because of his actions. A newly arisen letter accuses Adidas of being aware of the misconduct but doing nothing to discipline the rapper.
Adidas said, “It is currently unclear whether the accusations made in an anonymous letter are true. However, we take these allegations very seriously and have taken the decision to launch an independent investigation of the matter immediately to address the allegations,” The head of media relations continued to assure consumers about their values. Adidas “does not tolerate hate speech and offensive behavior and therefore has terminated the Adidas Yeezy partnership.” They continued to say, “We have been and continue to be actively engaged in conversations with our employees about the events that lead (sic) to our decision to end the partnership,” The company began separating themselves from the rapper after Kanye West publicly began making offensive comments that resulted in his suspension from both Twitter and Instagram.
The company is taking a massive financial hit to clean up the fallout following a Rolling Stone report released at the beginning of this month as reported. Multiple Yeezy and Adidas employees came forward to accuse Ye of creating a toxic work environment – firing people on a whim and degrading those who work for him, even showing sexual photos in meetings. The letter, as mentioned earlier, accused Adidas of failing to protect them in the face of Ye’s abuse.
