Early this week, Stacey Dash shared an emotional video to TikTok where she tearfully told watchers that she had only just learned about rapper DMX’s death, despite being confirmed over a year ago.
In the video, the Clueless actress opened up about her struggles with drug addiction and how severely the news impacted her.
“I’m ashamed,” Dash said through sniffling tears. “I didn’t know DMX died; I didn’t know…from a cocaine overdose.” She continued to describe her accomplishment of getting clean herself and how challenging it was.
“I am today six years and one month clean. It breaks my heart. It breaks my heart. He lost to it. He lost. He lost to that demon of addiction. Please, please don’t lose.” She gave genuine and touching advice from her heart.
The video’s caption explained how she discovered that DMX had passed. It reads, “I was strolling through #tiktok and found a #DMX song that has saved me many times,” she penned. “Suddenly, it says #RIP. I know I am late. I did not know he had passed away. He #OD. I am heartbroken – he was such a great guy.” Dash described.

The news of DMX’s passing was previously reported on April 9th. The cause of death was ultimately a cause of a heart attack induced by an overdose that eventually led to the rapper being put on life support. He subsequently died at just 50 years old. With the rapper’s passing coming in the middle of the pandemic, his funeral was reserved for his close friends and family.
