Actress Denise Dowse has reportedly passed away after fighting meningitis.

Her sister, Tracey, shared the tragic news via Instagram on August 13.

“I want to take this moment to thank our friends and family for all of the love and prayers. It is with a very heavy heart that I inform everyone that my sister, Denise Dowse, has gone forward to meet our family in eternal life,” she wrote.

“Denise Yvonne Dowse was the most amazing sister, a consummate, illustrious actress, mentor and director. She was my very best friend and final family member. Denise loved all of you. I know that she is watching over us with all the love she has. I ask for privacy and your continued prayers.

I will provide, at a later time, her Celebration of Life information. I will update you here.”

Tracey continued, “Again, I am so grateful for all the calls, text messages, direct messages, and silent prayers for my sister. We could not have made it so gracefully and painlessly without all of the prayer warriors around the world. Thank you for giving so selflessly.”

She signed off with appreciation for everyone who had offered support and prayers, “I love you, Tracey.”

 

Actress Yvette Nicole Brown offered her condolences, writing, “She was wonderful. Just a wonderful human being. I am so sorry for your loss. And the world’s loss. 💔🕊”

Susan Rubin praised Tracey’s dedication to her deceased sibling, writing, “You are a light for all of us to follow, Tracey. Your care of Denise was so beautiful and generous – she literally wouldn’t have survived without you. I grieve the loss of Denise’s huge heart, talent, soul and humanity. I will always be grateful we spent so much time working and playing together. RIP my sweet friend. Love you Denise. Fly free.”

“Sending hugs and love to you. Continued prayers. 🙏🏽,” someone else wrote.

The 64-year-old actress reportedly fell into a coma after being diagnosed with meningitis last week.

Tracey posted her sister’s condition, asking for prayers. 

“I am requesting support and prayers be offered [to] me and my sister @denisedowse. She is currently in the hospital in a coma brought on by a virulent form of meningitis,” she wrote.

According to Denise’s IMDB, the Hawaii native had over 100 acting credits to her name, including HBO’s hit series Insecure, Snowfall, The Resident, Law And Order and Bones.
