Actor Jamie Foxx is awake and recovering in the hospital after suffering a “medical condition” on April 11.
Jamie’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, took to Instagram to announce his hospitalization.
“[The Foxx Family] wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced medical complication yesterday,” Corinne’s statement read. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

While there aren’t specifics about what the medical condition is, there is speculation surfacing on the internet that he had a stroke, but that hasn’t been confirmed. A source told CNN that doctors were “running tests” and “trying to figure out what exactly happened.”
People reported that Jamie was in Georgia to film Back in Action, co-starring Cameron Diaz, which is why he had to be transported to a medical facility in the state (not by an emergency vehicle). His medical emergency also didn’t occur on set but required his stunt double to step in due to his hospitalization. His condition also required a second person to act as his photo double.
Filming for Back in Action continued after the Day Shift actor was taken to the Georgia medical facility.
A source knowledgeable about the situation told the outlet that the Django Unchained actor was “awake and alert.”
“He’s OK, thank God,” the source said. “He’s still in the hospital and doctors are running tests, but he’s awake and alert. They’re keeping him under observation.”
Netflix hasn’t confirmed a release date for Diaz and Jamie’s impending film, but it could be released sometime in 2024. Diaz and Foxx have been in Any Given Sunday (1999) and Annie (2014) together before working on Back in Action.
