ABC’s Shark Tank is set to debut for its 13th season on October 8, and the series’ latest addition is a first for the long-running show.
Shark Tank is introducing its first Black woman Shark – Emma Grede. Grede is the CEO of Good American (launched with Khloe Kardashian in 2016) and founding partner of SKIMS, “a solutions-oriented brand creating the next generation of underwear, loungewear and shapewear.”

The savvy businesswoman boasts an impressive resume with a business degree from the London College of Fashion. Grede, born in London, has worked with iconic fashion houses like Zac Posen, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Kane and German luxury automobile conglomerate Mercedes-Benz. Within the United States, she is the Chairwoman of ITB Services – a one-stop PR and marketing firm. Her firm handles notable clients like Calvin Klein, H&M, and Net-A-Porter.
Daymond Johns, the man behind FUBU, is the program’s only Black Shark. Grede is set to be a guest Shark along with comedian Kevin Hart, British entrepreneur Peter Jones, CEO Nirav Tolia and KIND founder Daniel Lubetzky. Original Sharks – Lori Greiner, Johns, Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran and Kevin O’Leary are also returning for the 13th season.
The upcoming season will feature at least two Black-owned companies– Kin Apparel and Pashko.
