ABC News Anchor DeMarco Morgan Is Possibly Replacing Controversial ‘GMA’ Co-Host T.J. Holmes

With the word on whether or not Good Morning America co-anchors Amy Robach, and T.J. Holmes will return

to work impending, sources have said that ABC is possibly looking to replace Holmes with ABC News’ DeMarco Morgan.

US Weekly reported that a source told them that the network reached a decision and is “negotiation with [Holmes and Robach] on their exit deals and an announcement.”

Another source told the outlet that Holmes and Robach are still under investigation and are off the air because the network wants to gather as much information as possible to get a clear view of how to “proceed.”

According to a Page Six report, insiders say Morgan’s temporary position may be permanent, replacing Holmes. A source said that many were impressed by Morgan and offered their congratulations and praises during a work mixer at a New York Irish pub, Plug Uglies, including some ABC News employees.

“A lot of [people] were giving him a lot of praise, and he seemed very happy,” the unnamed source said. “He was the first to arrive and one of the last to leave.”

Alongside Morgan, ABC News anchor Rhiannon Ally co-anchored GMA to replace Robach. Morgan and Ally may not interact with each other the same way Robach and Holmes did on the show, but they still brought steady ratings and good numbers.

“DeMarco and Rhiannon aren’t screwing on the weekend and then coming to work on Monday, so, of course, they’re not going to have the same energy as T.J. and Amy,” the informant said.

Contrary to the US Weekly report, People and Page Six reported that a decision hasn’t been made regarding Robach and Holmes returning to work or being fired. An informant with People said that the two “have not been terminated.”

“There are no negotiations about their future,” the source said, adding that the investigation is still ongoing. “While it is unlikely they will return in the capacity they were in— the longer time goes on, it becomes less likely they will return— there are still open lines of communication, and further discussions are being had about what will happen.”

Robach and Holmes’ names are still announced on the show. The two were removed from the air after their secret relationship surfaced with photos showing them holding hands in a vehicle, flirting in a bar and going into each other’s apartments, despite being married. Earlier this month, Holmes filed for divorce from his estranged wife, Marilee Fiebig.
