Abbott Elementary star Tyler James Williams spit hot fire on the mic, and folks on social media went up for his illmatic bars.
On October 24, the 30-year-old actor appeared on Sirius XM’s Sway In The Morning with Heather B, Tracy G and Sway Calloway. The 20-minute segment culminated with Tyler savagely rocking the mic to GloRilla’s hit single with Cardi B, “Tomorrow 2.”
The multi-talented actor looked the part of an emcee, donning a simple white tee and fresh fade. Tyler asked the deejay to drop the track, and he freestyled for two minutes. An excerpt is below.
“I’m the truth. Please believe me,
I don’t think that you should leave me because I be on a billboard and the TV,
Either way you gonna see me,
Being with me can be hard, but trust me being my ex ain’t easy
So don’t be tripping, don’t be needy
cause I be chilling, I be breezy,
I’m not the one you roll the dice with,
I’m the one you spend your life with,
I done seen it like a vision girl,
I’m a little something like a psychic,
My tailor said that you were nice fit,
I beg to differ she a tight grip,
That sh*t real and clear and
You can tell it when the light hits.”
Sway and Heather B went up for Tyler’s freestyle, and the former MTV reality star even joked about being the Abbott Elementary star’s backup dancer. Sway called him a “hyena.”
Black Twitter went into a frenzy once the video went viral.

Tyler’s rapping skills took some by surprise, but those, who’ve followed his career, know that the actor rapped in the 2012 Disney hit film, Let It Shine. He portrayed “Cyrus” a talented producer and aspiring emcee.
In the interview on Sway In The Morning, he also opened up about the toll being a child actor and growing up in the industry took on him. Tyler talked about going to therapy when he was 23 years old. The Westchester native opened up about not being “seen” and being “looked at” by fans– who he felt didn’t see him as a person, just the characters he portrayed.
“Great conversation with this young man. @willtylerjames has grown up right in front of us on the TV screen. And we talked to him about the positives and negatives of growing up with the audience. You know he brought some bars too!”
