Rapper A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers, opened up about absolutely loving his new role as a father. Sitting down for an Apple Music 1 radio interview on January 18 with Zane Lowe, Rocky said that his first months of fathering the baby boy he shares with Rihanna have been life-changing.
Harlem-born Rocky said, “It’s so unexplainable. It’s just one of those things. I’m a member of our club now, like the dad club. You see a dad, you see me. I’m playing on; I’m a full dad now. Being outside and working and being creative, it drives more energy for you to obviously think and soak things up like a sponge now that I’m a dad because I have a whole other perspective.”
“But it honestly helps you get home to your family and get home to your baby. And I can’t even explain it, man. You come home to heaven every day. I’m so thankful. God is good, man.”
According to sources close to the couple obtained by PEOPLE, the power couple is happy and focused on their little baby boy.
In another interview with Dazed Digital, A$AP Rocky told the outlet about what kind of kid he wanted to raise and what was important to him as a father. “I will always remind my children to never lose their imagination, even as adults, no matter what. I actually love to watch cartoons – I’ve watched like Teletubbies, Blue’s Clues, Yo Gabba Gabba, Peppa Pig and Baby Shark,” He reminisced.
“I hope to raise open-minded children. Not people who discriminate. And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents.”
As Sis2Sis reported, Rihanna gave birth to her son on May 13 in Los Angeles, although it wasn’t until a few days later that the delivery was publicized.
