AAAWKWAARD! ‘The Pivot’ Podcast’s Channing Crowder Calls Cleveland Browns’ Denzel Ward ‘Beautiful, You’ve Got Pretty Eyes’

Thanks to one of the show’s problematic hosts, Channing Crowder, The Pivot podcast has had some awkwardly hilarious moments. However, the podcast’s latest episode left guest Denzel Ward and folks on social media scratching their heads. 

On August 12, Ward, the Cleveland Brown’s cornerback, appeared on the podcast and hosts Fred Taylor, Ryan Clark and Crowder discussed a wide range of topics, including the football player losing his father and being the highest-paid defensive back in the NFL. But Crowder’s commentary on Ward’s “beauty” was the viral moment of The Pivot episode.

The 25-year-old cornerback had just finished talking about the role his mother played in his career, and the former Miami Dolphin football player blurted out, “You are beautiful!”

The random outburst garnered laughter from his fellow hosts, and Ward, smiling awkwardly, asked, “What you mean, man?”

An emboldened Crowder continued gushing over the younger player.

“You’ve got pretty eyes. You’ve got good skin. You’ve got the highlights.” 

He then asked Ward if those attributes made people think he was “soft.”

“You a dog now. I watched you play. You a dog. But, do you have to fight that,” he asked.

“What you mean?”

Crowder continued, “You look so pleasant and nice in the warmup, but then you gotta choke a b*itch. Do dudes try you?”

“Well,” Denzel said, “You’re the first dude to call me beautiful. I don’t even know how to respond to that.”

Taylor and Clark hysterically laughed, but Crowder clearly didn’t know how to read the room.

The clip made its way to Twitter, and users of the social media platform clowned the 38-year-old podcast host.

The latest episode of The Pivot isn’t Crowder’s first walk onto the weird side when it comes to his thoughts on men. He caught heat last week after saying that Denver Broncos’ quarterback Russell Wilson wasn’t his “type of dude” to hang around because he used mousse in his hair.

“I know dudes that I want to hang with. I grew up in Atlanta, and I know guys I wanna hang with. I don’t wanna hang with Russ! ’Cause he put mousse in his hair, he slick it sideways, he ain’t my type of dude.”

Crowder divulged more odd tidbits in July when comedian Kevin Hart appeared on The Pivot. He disclosed that he and his wife, Aja, frequented a nudist colony annually, to Hart’s chagrin. He also mentioned shaving his man-meat.

“What’s going on,” Hart asked.

“We go to a place where like, you walk in, everybody just gets naked and runs around. So we go to the nudist colony, and you know, we just kind of go around, you gotta shave everything and show out. And especially when you shave your sh*t, it looks bigger because you gain inches from no hair,” Crowder explained.

Hart also asked if the former player and his wife were swingers. Crowder answered no and revealed that “we just like to be around naked people together.”
