A Hot Girl With A Degree: Megan Thee Stallion Graduates From Texas Southern University

Megan Thee Stallion is having a ‘hot girl’ year and just added “college graduate” to her list of accomplishments. On Saturday, the “Savage” rapper graduated from HBCU, Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

The 26-year-old balanced her music career while taking part-time classes at Texas Southern University to receive a bachelor’s degree in health administration, USA Today reported that she took to social media to address her fans as she prepared to walk across the stage and accept her diploma.

“Good morning, hotties !!! It’s graduation dayyyy #MeganTheeGraduate,” the rapper tweeted.

The Houston native was among nearly 800 students who graduated from the historically Black university Saturday.

“I know my parents are looking down on me so proud,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thank you, everyone, for all the love today.”

To share the momentous occasion with her fans, Megan Thee Stallion tweeted a link to the live stream of her commencement ceremony, and fans celebrated on Twitter with several hashtags, including #MeganTheeGraduate and #HotGirlGraduation.

The “Body” rapper was dressed in an elegant black cap and gown with several stoles as she graced the stage to shake hands with the university’s president, Dr. Lesia Crumpton-Young.

After receiving her diploma, she was met at the end of the platform by her boyfriend and rapper Pardison Fontaine with a large bouquet of roses.

The rapper provided a glimpse of the big day with pre-graduation photos on Instagram Friday. Wearing a Texas Southern University sash and red graduation gown, she captioned the post, “I want y’all to remember that you can do whatever you wanna do and be whoever you wanna be, cause look at me!”

On Sunday, the rapper was honored with the 18th Congressional District Humanitarian Award in Houston. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee presented the “very important” award to Megan Thee Stallion, saying, “it means you have exhibited humanity and have helped without asking.”

Megan Thee Stallion said she was “honored” to accept the award and dedicated it to her grandmother. “It’s my responsibility to take care of the city that took care of me. My grandma always taught me to be kind and giving. I learned that from her,” she said.

In October, “she showed off her studded graduation cap that featured her catchphrase, “Real Hot Girl,” and her matching manicure, which was on theme with one hand reading “TSU” and the other reading “2021” in the university’s colors,” USA Today reported.

“2021 finna graduate collegeeee 😛 taking my graduation pics today 😭I can’t wait for y’all to see,” she wrote.

While keeping her college education at the forefront of her rap career, Megan Thee Stallion shared in an interview with Harpers Bazaar that she always used the Matriarchs of her family as strength to keep going and achieve the most significant accomplishment of her life.

“Before my mom passed, she really would be on my butt about getting my degree,” she told the magazine in the March cover story, adding that her great-grandmother would constantly ask her, “you are going to get them papers?”

The now-college graduate has also helped fund the degrees of others by sponsoring a full-ride scholarship to the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment for students interested in the music industry.

“Getting an education is incredibly important to me. I still have academic goals that I want to achieve, so if I can use my resources to open doors and create opportunities for at least one student, then it’s a victory,” the rapper said in a press release at the time.
