According to a People Magazine exclusive, CNN Senior Political Correspondent Abby Phillip and her husband, Marcus Richardson, welcomed their first baby– Naomi Angelina Richardson, on August 16.
Phillip stated that their baby girl made her debut in the world “10 days fashionably late,” weighing in at 7 lbs., 6 oz., and measuring 20.5 inches.
“Marcus and I are so happy to announce that the Naomi Angelina Richardson arrived bright and early on Monday morning perfectly happy, healthy and ready to eat. Mom and baby are feeling great,” the new mom said.
“Her first name means ‘pleasant one,’ and she is already living up to it and spoiling her mom and dad as a blissfully calm baby. Her middle name Angelina is a tribute to my beloved maternal grandmother who passed away in 2014.”

“We are overjoyed and in love already,” Phillips said.
Already pregnant, the mother-to-be shared a post to her Instagram on Mother’s Day expressing her excitement and gratitude for the gift of a baby.
She said, “Before this year, I thought I knew what motherhood was all about. But what I wasn’t prepared for was the emotional fortitude that it requires to really be a mother. When people say that having a child is like having your heart living outside of your body, that is no joke.”

“As I write this, my heart, my daughter, is living inside of me. And, Lord willing, in a few months, she’ll be out in this unpredictable world. And if I’m being honest, I’m overwhelmed by the thought of what that will mean,” she added.
