Megan Thee Stallion was recently honored with several Grammy and BET awards, both for her Cardi B collab “WAP,” and her “Savage (Remix)” with Beyoncé. And while fans have went up for her debut Good News album and recent “Thot Sh**” single, others have had critiques for the Houston-bred rapper. DJ Akademiks is one such person, who’s long made comments on her legal and public conflict with Tory Lanez.
Coming for Megan’s artistry, bars and music choices, the hip-hop commentator claimed that the “Big Ole Freak” artist was overhyped, and also threw in his opinion that Good News paled in comparison next to Tory Lanez’s 2020 album Daystar.
“Listen to everybody’s review of Meg’s album. She just dropped it and it’s called Good News. It’s mid. It’s mid. And if it was anyone we liked who dropped a mid album…the consensus would be, ‘Meg, you missed. Come again, boo. You can do better,’” DJ Akademiks said in a live stream. “Meg can do no wrong. She can fart on a song and people will be like, ‘Oh my god, that is the sweet, sweet, sweet sound of being a victim,“
He then compared her music to Tory Lanez, a former friend of Megan who she accused of shooting her in the foot last year.

“Listen to the first song off Tory’s album and listen to the first song of Megan’s album. They’re basically talking about the same incident,” he continued. “And if you could with sane and sound mind say that Meg is rapping even near the level that Tory is, you’re blinded by the whole victimology thing. The whole “protect black women” thing, it’s fine….Victims need to be upheld, but that shouldn’t just f**k up the whole conversation of music.”
An unpopular opinion, indeed.
