Miami police arrested rapper Rich The Kid early Monday morning for trespassing as police investigated a bomb threat at a hotel.
According to TMZ, the Miami Beach Police Department responded to a bomb threat at the SLS Hotel on Collins Avenue around 1 a.m. the rapper, whose real name is Dimitri Roger. He was reportedly staying at the hotel.
MBPD established a barrier around the hotel’s premises to ensure outsiders didn’t trespass or interfere. Police checking out the threat seemed to be an inconvenience for the “Plug Walk” rapper, who asked police if he could get inside his hotel room.
MBPD denied Rick the Kid access and warned they would arrest him if he trespassed.
“I’ll bond out in 20 minutes,” Rich the Kid replied, according to police.
He then walked to another part of the property, where security spotted him and affirmed he could not enter. The rapper reportedly challenged security by telling them to “stop me” and proceeded to jump the fence and enter the property.
Once inside, Rich the Kid was met with more police and a K-9 unit. Miami police ordered him to leave, but the rapper refused and lingered in the driveway. Police then arrested him on two misdemeanor charges — trespassing and resisting an officer without violence — and took him into custody.
Several celebrities like 2 Chainz and Kanye “Ye” West were in town to attend Miami Beach’s annual Art Basel, an international art festival. Before the incident unfolded, Rich The Kid performed at Electric Lady in Wynwood Sunday night.
Rich The Kid wasn’t the only rapper to have an encounter with Miami police — 2 Chainz did. Unlike Rich The Kid, whose defiance led to his encounter with police, Miami police responded to a three-car collision 2 Chainz was part of Saturday morning on I-95. Sis2Sis reported that police believed a drunk driver caused the accident, and medical responders transported him to the hospital.
