Chile, amid the ongoing beef between Doja Cat and her fans, the “Ain’t S**t” singer affirmed she wasn’t giving her fans all the credit for her success Sunday, July 23.
In an Instagram Live video posted by Onsite, Doja clarified that her fans had partial credit for what she obtained since gaining fame, but not all.
“I love all the people who support me. I love the people who f**king…I wouldn’t have this painting in front of me if it wasn’t for my fans,” she said. “I wouldn’t have food on my table if it wasn’t for my fans. I wouldn’t have f**king excessive cheese sticks in my fridge if it wasn’t for my fans. I wouldn’t have f**king my dog if it wasn’t for my fans. I wouldn’t have my house if it wasn’t for fans. Well, I would have a home, but I wouldn’t have this house, probably, if it wasn’t for my fans.”
“I do work my ass off. So, it’s like a 50-50 thing,” Doja added.
Fans didn’t like her response and began calling her ungrateful for having fans, despite her giving them partial credit and expressing her gratitude.
“When I performed at Coachella, I was able to see her performance set live, and she is one of the dopest performers I ever seen. But she lack common sense, and you can tell she partake in satanic things. I don’t know if she’s having a mental breakdown or what, but you have to be grateful as an artist to have a fan base that support you! FANS absolutely help create the artist.”
“I’m confused. If her fans didn’t support her or listen to her, how will she make money? I mean, you’re audience is what pays you and gets you deals, right? Or am I crazy?”
“It’s ok to show love to your fans! Your fans keep your music alive! But saying you don’t love your fans is wild.”
“It was totally okay for her to explore her identity and switch up her look, but what’s not okay is to completely disrespect and regard the people who got her here in the first place. She’s become so insufferable.”
Others defended the singer, saying she worked hard for her fame. While technically not defending the singer, some commenters blamed the fans for making people celebrities.
“Do y’all want a cookie? It’s like damn God blessed her & that’s it. Sorry, but her fans were used, and I think that’s what has them in a chokehold. You can’t be mad that y’all were easily persuaded to like her and help grow her fan base. She didn’t beg, and if she did she isn’t now. Ppl are so weird it’s crazy how your celebrity faves can’t grow or voice how they want to live without being canceled because you feel entitled and live in a weird fantasy. She’s happy of her true fans, but the weirdos that are missing her message and fixated on making her a bad person for expressing her feelings & boundaries towards HER brand are wildly insane.”
“Doja works hard af!!! Her hard work gave us the opportunity to be fans of HER WORK in the first place.”
“She’s correct! Her fans didn’t do the work she did.”
Recently, Doja Cat blasted her fans in since-deleted tweets for naming her fanbase “Kittenz,” according to Page Six. In response, many of her fan account pages were deactivated.
She also told her fans she didn’t love them in since-deleted Threads because they were strangers.
