Documents from XXL show that Jacquees was arrested early by authorities at the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the county jail at 1:26 a.m. on charges of simple battery and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.
The R&B artist’s mug shot was then posted on the crime website Georgia Gazette, where it quickly went viral.
Jacquees, whose real name is Rodriquez Broadnax and gained popularity with his mixtapes and cover songs posted on social media platforms like YouTube and SoundCloud, was released hours later at 8:46 a.m. that same morning on $3,700 bail.
This is not the first time the singer has had his mugshot taken. On May 24, 2018, Jacquees was arrested for an alleged drug bust while speeding on a highway in Atlanta.
According to the APD, Jacquees was driving a 2007 Bentley Continental with his passenger when the incident occurred.
An officer said he deployed his speed detection equipment around 3 a.m. and saw Jacquees traveling at 116 miles per hour on I-85 North.
Jacquees was charged with careless driving, reckless driving, speeding, littering, and possession of a prohibited substance. Stanesha Boutwell, the passenger, got charged with having a controlled substance.
Prior to this arrest, the singer had two more run-ins with the law in less than a year: Jacquees for disorderly conduct earlier this month at Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport. On Miami Beach, Jacquees was arrested for refusal to obey an officer and disorderly behavior in March.
