Kelis recently opened up about her wellness journey following the one-year anniversary of her late husband’s passing.
As previously reported by Sis2Sis, Kelis’ husband Mike Mora, 37, passed away last year after an 18-month battle with stomach cancer. The couple were married since 2014 and had two children together.
On March 14, the anniversary of Mora’s death, Kelis, 43, opened up about her health and wellness journey in a video she posted to Instagram.
She captioned the video, “It’s been exactly a year… that’s crazy to me. I’m a very private person generally, especially when there is family involved. But there is no denying the impact and evolution my husband’s passing has had on my life.”
“I get asked all the time how I started this journey. It’s a much longer conversation but in short what we were dealing with here pushed me so deep into understanding our bodies and how our minds and emotions are so interlocked you can not treat one without the other. Our thoughts and intentions are as powerful and key as our skin health and fitness. I want to live well and this is me sharing what I know to be true.”

Kelis explained in the video that her journey towards wellness and farming began during her pregnancy years ago, as she became more conscious about eating well. She emphasized the importance of good nutrition and how it can be instrumental in promoting overall health and well-being.
“I just wanted to eat well,” she said of her motivations. “When I got pregnant that’s when I really started to care and think about it.”
Kelis also shared how she and her family decided to move to the farm to distance themselves from stress and other unnecessary worries. She encourages people to take control of their health by being more mindful of what they eat and supporting local and Black farmers.
