Award-winning veteran actress Taraji P. Henson is reportedly set to go on a one-month ‘spiritual journey’ in Bali to find happiness.
Henson spilled the details about her forthcoming trip during a recent interview with radio legend Angie Martinez’s Angie Martinez IRL podcast.
“I’m about to go to Bali for a month by myself. It’s my own spiritual journey. I gotta find my happiness,” she said during the Dec. 31 interview. “And it’s not in my friends. It’s not in my mama.…It’s me.”
The Maryland native continued, explaining that she thought she was content with all her accolades.
“I thought I was happy, but the things that I thought–I’m gonna get emotional–I don’t want to…the things that I thought was making me happy, they don’t; they don’t cut it anymore,” she told Martinez when asked how happy she is. “So I’m in a place where what does that look like? And I’m kind of spinning because I don’t know.”
In a nutshell, Taraji expressed that she hasn’t been “purely happy in a long time,” so, naturally, she’s dedicated to finding out what truly satisfies her. However, she insisted that she’s “still here” and still has time to find the happiness she’s searching for.
“I’m still here. I’m still living. So that means I still have time to find [happiness]. And it’s work. And it’s okay because it’s for the benefit of me,” she said.
Back in May, Sis2Sis reported that the 52-year-old received an honorary doctorate from the famed D.C.-based HBCU, Howard University. That day, she delivered a memorable commencement speech.
“I would like to take this moment to reintroduce myself: My name is Dr. Taraji Penda Henson, Howard class of 1995,” she said to the class of 2022.
The then-51-year-old actress previously graduated from Howard while juggling her then one-year-old son, Marcell Johnson.
