Twitter is popping after a user tried to undermine iconic Serena William’s legacy by pointing out that she was married to a white man – co-founder of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian. A verified account handled by Mike Baggz started all the buzz by posting, “Serena Williams’s legacy would of been even more SOLIDIFIED if she married a Black American man.” The tweet went up on November 30, and William’s fans wasted no time defending the former olympian tennis player.

They quickly reminded Baggz that her legacy was just as strong regardless and that it had nothing to do with who she married.
Her legacy is solely due to her talent, and not who she married or didn’t marry. pic.twitter.com/dJzY4xQ2n6

Serena Williams is one of the greatest and most accomplished athlete in the world ever…male or female…and you’re critiquing her legacy based on who she married?? Slow day? Come on man…

I vividly remember when she was trying to date black men were the first to bash her, disregard, and treated her like was second best but now she with someone who puts her on a pedestal and just so happens to be white and black men coming out the woodwork’s with their think pieces

With all due disrespect, shut up! Her legacy is not dependent upon who she chose as a partner. She’s Serena Williams. Her legacy stand on her own. You’re coming off as bitter and it’s not a good look.

Serena Williams married Ohanian back in 2017, and the pair have a 5-year-old daughter together. It’s also no secret that Ohanian is William’s biggest supporter.
I’ve seen over the last 7 years how much y’all love my wife—what she means to so many, worldwide. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Plenty of folks have told me “how Reddit changed their life,” but the scale & impact of “how Serena changed my life” stories absolutely dwarfs it pic.twitter.com/iDIwDBNhtj
