Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Ne-Yo claimed his ex, Crystal Renay Smith, cost him $400,000 in deals amid cheating allegations.
According to Radar, recent court documents revealed that Ne-Yo accused Crystal of publicly attempting to tarnish his name. As such, he said, she cost him $400,000 worth of deals.
“To date, [Ne-Yo] has loss approximately $400,000 in wages associated with public appearances, professional bookings, and promotional efforts related to the promotion of his new musical project,” the documents have reportedly indicated.
Ne-Yo called the matter an emergency, as he uses his income to support his minor children: Roman Smith (4), Shaffer Smith Jr. (6), and Isabella Smith (13 months).
Days before filing a petition for divorce from him on Aug. 1, Crystal wrote an Instagram post addressing her ex’s alleged infidelity. She initially accused the “Miss Independent” musician of cheating on her and having a baby with another woman. In her petition, the 36-year-old listed her and Ne-Yo’s marriage date as Feb. 20, 2016, and their separation date as July 22, 2022.
“Eight years of lies and deception. Eight years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous of women who sell their bodies to him unprotected…every last one of them!” she wrote in an Instagram post. “To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is an understatement. To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist.”
Ne-Yo said she also spoke about the divorce to paparazzi outside an airport and disrespected him during interviews to garner public empathy.
Crystal’s “reckless and distasteful acts” have allegedly caused him financial injury, the singer added.
Now, he’s demanding she’s found in contempt for violating a court order which reportedly said both parties were to avoid harassing each other. His demands include forcing her to remove all Instagram posts about him and to be prohibited from speaking out about him on social media.
