Big things are in store for Sparkle actor Mike Epps and his wife, Kyra. Soon, the couple will have their show on HGTV called Buying Back the Block, where they work to prevent gentrification in Black communities by flipping old houses and making them new.
Kyra made the announcement Friday on her Instagram.

“We’ve been fixing houses the last two summers,” Kyra wrote in the caption. “Now excited to say this time around its going to be on @hgtv wow wow wow! Our show- “Buying Back the Block,” coming Spring 23’.”
Mike also posted a picture of him holding tools to announce the new show.

“S/o to @estwingmfgtools for supplies for me and @kyraepps show “building back the block “on @hgtv let’s gooooooo whoooooooo,” Mike wrote on his Instagram post.
In the past, Mike has encouraged the Black youth to “buy your block back,” raising awareness for the gentrification of Black neighborhoods.
“A lot of people claim a Hood a city or a block but don’t own it, he wrote in an Instagram post. “This is my block in Indiana the before, and after with family and friends in the homes, they movin us out of our community’s at a rapid pace In the [sic] enter the city’s I been arrested in this hood a thousand times and lost many friends to violence and drugs in this [neighborhood] was a full crack house in the ’80s and 90’s look at it now God Is Good I tell all the youngsters to invest in real estate it will take care of you!!! Oh, and I Had this land for 25 years or better, not bragging, just trying to inspire!”

The show is expected to air on HGTV in spring 2023.
