A Law & Order: Organized Crime crew member named Johnny Alberto Pizarro II was shot and killed on Tuesday near the show’s set in Brooklyn, New York, People reported.
According to The Wrap, Pizarro was sitting in his car on Henry Street around 5:15 a.m. when a gunman approached his vehicle, opened the door, and shot him in the head and neck multiple times. Before his death, Pizarro was hanging “no parking” signs around the show’s
He was taken to Woodhull Medical Center and pronounced dead at 5:55 a.m.
The show was filming season 3, but production shut down the day after Pizarro’s death.
“We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result,” NBC said in a statement. “We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends, and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”
The gunman fled the scene, but the only description so far is that he was 5-foot-4 and thin-built. He was wearing a sweatshirt, black pants and a black hoodie.
Chrissy Grigoropoulos, the attorney for Pizarro’s estate, created a GoFundMe to assist in funeral expenses.
“on July 19, 2022, we lost a father, son, brother and uncle and a beloved in the Bushwick, Brooklyn community,” Grigoropoulos wrote. “Johnny Albert Pizarro II was taken from his family and children too soon. An unknown individual took him away from his children in the most senseless way possible while working and trying to earn a living for his family as a parking enforcer. The investigation is ongoing. Any information regarding funeral and memorial services shall be provided at a later time.”
She added, “Words cannot describe the emptiness his family and dearest friends feel. He was the bright light and heart of so many lives, and his memory will be eternal.”
Pizarro left behind six children.
