Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, recently thanked legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper and actor Method Man for his apology to Destiny’s Child.
According to reports, Tina took to Instagram to thank Method Man, whose real name is Clifford Smith, Jr., after he publicly apologized to Destiny’s Child for being rude to them over 20 years ago.
“Thank you, Method Man,” she wrote beneath a video clip of Method’s apology. “It takes a real man to tell this story! Such a great example for other young men [heart emoji]. Don’t assume someone is dissing you! @methodmanofficial”

On a July 3 episode of rapper Math Hoffa’s podcast My Expert Opinion, the Staten Island native revealed that he disrespected the group back in 2001. He further explained that he had done so because he thought its now-former members, Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams, previously ignored him. As such, he wanted to apologize for his behavior.
“We were at Janet Jackson’s Icon, and I remember I had just come off stage, and…I see the girls, so I kinda moseyed out of my seat to go over and say what’s up to them. Now, this is still me in my low self-esteem era…” he said to Hoffa. “I go over to say hi to them, and when I said hi, they didn’t even turn around and acknowledge me.”
He continued, saying that producer Rockwilder walked over to introduce him to the girls, but when they attempted to shake his hand, he rejected their gesture.
“He comes over. He’s talking to them [and] he’s like, ‘Oh, you know Red and Meth?’ And they put their hands out to shake, and I kept my hand here and was like, ‘Go’ [ahead] with that Hollywood shit,'” Method Man said. “To this day, man, I don’t think I’ve ever apologized for that…I apologize to Beyoncé. I apologize to Kelly Rowland and Michelle—y’all did not deserve that at all.”
Beyonce, Kelly, nor Michelle have commented on the 51-year-old’s recollection.
