Yara Shahidi is officially a college graduate!
On Thursday, the Black-ish and Grown-ish star, 22, graduated from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and shared photos celebrating her achievement on Instagram.
“Yara (noun): a Harvard graduate #ITSOFFICIAL #CLASSOF2022,” she captioned the post.
She received countless congratulatory comments from fans and celebrities in the comment section, including a few members of her ABC family.
“CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!” posted Tracee Ellis Ross, 49, who played Rainbow Johnson, mom, to the 22-year-old’s character on Black-ish.
“Let’s gooooo !!!” said fellow Grown-ish star Diggy Simmons.
La La Anthony also chimed in, writing, “Amazing!! Congrats!!! So proud of u.”
Per Vogue, the actress paired the traditional cap-and-gown regalia with a red two-piece Dior suit, donning Harvard’s crimson hue.
Shahidi’s father, Afshin, shared a photo celebrating the exciting moment with his daughter. The proud father smiled alongside the graduate in the snapshot, wearing a cap and gown with an African-inspired stole draped around her shoulders.
“Beautifully surreal moment seeing our delicate petal in full bloom,” he captioned his photo, tagging Shahidi and his wife, Keri.

Her mom also shared a candid photo of the two after the commencement ceremony. “🤎THE CELEBRATION CONTINUES👩🏽🎓 • 1 day away from graduation!” she wrote in the caption.
During the week, Shahidi shared multiple posts on her Instagram account as she prepared to close a four-year chapter in her academic career. On Wednesday, she shared a photo with her brothers, Sayeed and Ehsan, on the steps of the university campus.
“T-Minus 1 day to GRADUATION🔥 so here I am, sharing this special moment with my most special day one’s,” she captioned the photo.
In March, she took to the social platform and announced the completion of her 134-page thesis, which is a requirement for many students to graduate, Sis2Sis reported.
“Weighing in at 32,508 words and 136 pages is this thesis writer, Yara Sayeh Shahidi! Let’s gooooo!” the actress said in the 16-second clip.
Shahidi was accepted into the Ivy League school in 2017, where she double majored in interdisciplinary sociology and African-American Studies.
