On Tuesday, iconic singer Dionne Warwick questioned why rapper Saweetie’s name isn’t spelled “Sweetie.” In a hilarious post on Twitter, the 80-year-old “Walk On By” singer, known for snappy quips on the social media platform, asked her followers in her unbothered auntie way about the entertainer’s misspelled moniker.
“Why is that young lady’s name spelled ‘Saweetie’ and not ‘Sweetie’?” Warwick tweeted.
She followed up with a second tweet adding, “This new generation is so creative and fun. ‘Saweetie’ is fun to say!”

One user wrote, “Miss Dionne, it’s because she’s spelling it like some folks say it. I’m not saying it makes sense, just an explanation. I believe “Quavo” is also named that way for the same reason, the way some say ‘Cuervo.'”

Another said, “I dunno, but remember when you name was spelled “Warwicke” and not “Warwick”?”
Yep. They spelled my name wrong. I dropped the “e” and stuck with the wrong spelling due to their error. 🤷🏾♀️ https://t.co/PqQyqhXHht
