50 Cent changed his mind about doing a Verzuz battle months after he admitted he was open to a match up with former G-Unit rapper The Game.
The “In Da Club” rapper revealed his change of heart during an interview at the premire of his new show Power Book III: Raising Kanan. The interviewer asked him if he was still interested in a Verzuz battle and Fif’s answer shut it down.
“A Verzuz battle? Probably not,” 50 responded. “We back outside. That was something that happened during the pandemic when we was stuck in the house. Now that we back outside, there’s other things to do. We supposed to be creating new history, not being back there.”
50 expressed a similar sentiment in March when he told “The Morning Show Hustle” Verzuz was “was something we did when we was stuck in the house.”
“As soon as we got out of the house to come back outside, Verzuz didn’t make sense to me,” he added.
50 Cent was more open to it in November 2020, when he argued the only rapper qualified to battle him was The Game.
“Maybe Game,” 50 told radio legend Big Boy. “Okay, look. He can’t play no records with my voice on ‘em.”
“As much as we fought and argued in the early stages I rather see him benefit from the momentum than someone else,” he added. “He’s still going to be part of G-Unit and part of the legacy overall, even if you just want to focus on the break-up.”
The Game later agreed 50 was the only rapper who could keep up with him during a Verzuz battle.
“You can’t really talk about Fif and hip hop without somebody bring up Game, and you definitely can’t say Game without somebody saying, ‘But oh, 50 wrote all your hits. You ain’t shit without 50,’” The Game said during an interview with Power 106 Los Angeles. “It’s a Game and Fif; Fif and Game thing.”
