50 Cent Demands Payment After Employee Embezzles Funds

Hip-hop icon 50 Cent is serious about getting paid on time.

He recently took to Instagram to share his thoughts on a court battle with a former employee of his Sire Spirits brand.

The legal dispute concerns Mitchell Green, who allegedly embezzled millions from Sire Spirits by overcharging wholesalers and keeping the extra money.

In response to the situation, 50 Cent posted a screenshot of a HipHopDX article with the headline “50 Cent Ready To Seize Ex-Employee’s Property Over $6M Lawsuit,” adding the caption “Look I’m a need that by Monday!”

Court documents obtained by the New York Post alleged that Green confessed to the embezzlement in 2020 after two years of wrongdoing.

The court found Green responsible for paying back the ill-gotten gains along with another $948,096 to a wholesaler and $2.7 million in attorneys’ fees, totaling over $6 million.

Green attempted to have the award vacated, but the request was denied in June 2022. 50 Cent was awarded an additional $89,305.50 in attorneys’ fees and costs in November 2022. The court ordered Green to pay over $6.2 million in compensatory damages, plus pre-and post-judgment interest, in March 2023.

In addition to Green, 50 Cent is also suing Michael Caruso and his wife for their role in the champagne scheme. Caruso falsely claimed that Green had connections to the Taittinger champagne family and allegedly profited from Green’s embezzlement.

According to Caruso, he is now a thriving entrepreneur who has put in a great deal of effort to help establish and promote the Sire Spirits brand, including its top-tier champagne.

“This lawsuit is a blatant attempt to devalue his contribution to Mr. Jackson’s company, and he adamantly denies any wrongdoing.”

The legal battle is just the latest instance of people owing 50 Cent money after court proceedings. In 2018, Teairra Mari sued the rapper for revenge porn and ended up losing the case, owing him up to $40,000 in legal fees.
