50 Cent has made it clear that he still wants the money former Love & Hip Hop cast member Teairra Mari owes him. And now, he is demanding Mari appear in court to discuss her finances under oath.
According to court documents, the “Candy Shop” rapper wants to collect the $50,000 Mari allegedly owes him and question her source of income. However, Radar Online reported that Mari has been holding off on paying the debt for over a year now.
The Queens native, born Curtis Jackson, has asked a judge to set a court hearing for April 20 and have the 34-year-old bring her bank statements.
As Sis2Sis previously reported, the amount owed to 50 is a $37,733 court-ordered settlement from 2019. Mari initially filed a lawsuit against him after posting a still photo of the singer following her ex-boyfriend, Akbar Abdul-Ahad, releasing a sex tape on Instagram without her consent. However, when Mari missed the court date, the judge dismissed the case and awarded 50 $30,000, including attorney fees.
Mari “has been the subject of repeated sanctions by this Court but has been seemingly unswayed by such actions and has not paid any money towards the Judgment or sanctions against her, making the increased penalties associated with a finding of contempt necessary,” 50’s attorney wrote.
The rapper has made several attempts to collect the debt; he even tried to seize her paychecks and failed. However, he hopes the courts will step in and take action since Mari hasn’t provided information regarding her music career income or bank statements.
If the judge signs the petition, the order will read, “If you fail to appear at the time and place specified in this order, you may be subject to arrest and punishment for contempt of court, and the court may make an order requiring you to pay the reasonable attorney fees incurred by the judgment creditor in this proceeding.”
The television producer also filed a separate motion against Mari, demanding that she is found in contempt for ignoring the case altogether. She reportedly stopped responding to demands and refused to communicate with her attorney.
Her attorney has asked the court permission to drop his client. If approved, 50 said the move would allow Mari to evade her obligations toward the debt.
The musician plans to argue why Mari should pay $5,235 in sanctions to cover his legal bills in the upcoming hearing.
