As previously reported by Sis2Sis, Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion back in 2020. The buzz surrounding the sentencing has gotten social media users riled up. Although fans of the rapper have both defended him and shunned him for his actions, Lanez’ close collaborator, Mario, has taken to the internet to defend his choice to work with his friend, as well as his decision to write a letter in support of Lanez to the judge.
Mario hopped on Instagram Live to explain why he continued to work with Lanez following his incident with Megan in 2020. He said, “As an independent artist doing his thing, it’s a lot of artists who don’t work as hard as he does. Regardless of whatever, the music is what it is.” He continued, You still listen to music regardless of what’s going on in the world. The music is what you love people for. We’re going to keep the energy positive.”

In addition to the Instagram Live, a photo has surfaced online of a letter written to Lanez’s judge by Mario. He argued for Lanez’s character by discussing his family, work ethic, and alleged gentleness. The letter read, “When Tory first became a father. I remember a conversation about everything he wanted to leave for his child someday.”
Ironically he added, “I have never seen Tory act out of character in a manner to hurt someone. We’ve spoken on the phone many times and prayed with each other. All I can ask and pray for is that he and his son are treated fairly.”
Fans of Mario were not happy about his public defense of convicted Lanez.
