1501’s Carl Crawford Admits It Was ‘Petty’ How He Handled Beef With Megan Thee Stallion

We hope everything settles!

Ex-MLB player and 1501 Certified Entertainment founder Carl Crawford apologized for handling his beef with Houston-bred rapper Megan Thee Stallion the way he did.

In an interview with TMZ Hip Hop, Crawford admitted he allowed his competitive nature to get the best of him when the beef with Megan started, not realizing that the music and sports business were completely different.

“Just call it competitive nature from playing sports,” Crawford explained. “You’re used to people yelling at you, and you go back and forth. So, I kind of got caught up in that game a little bit, which I probably shouldn’t have done because I’m in a different game now, and I can’t treat it like a fan yelling at me, and I get to yell back.”

Crawford had beef with the Houston Hottie and Jay Z’s Roc Nation.

The “Savage” rapper allegedly didn’t honor her contract with 1501 Certified, which she said was because they were preventing her from releasing new music, specifically her “Suga” album.

“I wasn’t upset [with 1501] because I thought, ‘Everybody cool, we are family. It’s cool, it’s nice…Let me just ask [them] to renegotiate my contract,'” Megan explained in an Instagram live. “So, now, they telling a b***h that she can’t drop no music. It’s really just a greedy game. You mad because I don’t want to bow down, roll over like a little b***h, and you don’t want to renegotiate my contract.”

Since 1501 Certified refused to negotiate her contract to where she could release music, Megan departed from the label. She went to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, taking 1501’s former operations manager T. Farris.

Crawford hasn’t mentioned the “Body” rapper on social media, which most likely had something to do with the temporary restraining order against Crawford’s label, restraining them from stopping her from releasing music and collaborating with other artists.

In a sit-down with Variety, Crawford said he was “blindsided” by Megan’s switch to a new label.

The 1501 Certified label founder was spotted partying in a club with rapper and Megan’s nemesis Tory Lanez in April 2022. The video of the two showed fans the beef between her, her former label and its owner was real.

However, Crawford clarified that he didn’t know Lanez then but did the whole stunt to get back at her, and he regrets it.

He admitted that the move was petty, knowing the trauma Lanez put her through a few years ago when he reportedly shot the H-Town Hottie outside Kylie Jenner’s house where a party occurred.

Although it’s unclear if Megan will forgive him, Crawford and his label’s president, Kai “Verse” Tyler, will focus on some current artists, like rapper Erica Banks.
